  PUNE'S DAGADUSETH HALWAI GANPATI   GANESH FESTIVAL reminds me of my childhood days in PUNE.  Close to my house there stayed an old man called Shri Wagh who had a passion towards making huge Ganesh murthis (idols).  He had a small workshop in front of our building.  He was the person who made the nearby people feel the fun of arrival of Ganesh festival.  The entire family members got on to their jobs.   Shri Wagh had people under him to do various jobs.  He first prepared a rough sketch of the idol.  He had a basic summary of the first foundation to be done.  Wooden frames, stools, tables, rods, clay, drums filled with water plenty of brushes, colours, spray everything was kept ready for the moulding, casting and painting.  A wooden frame was made , a table was fixed on it.  A rod was fixed in the centre.  A dough was made by mixing clay in the required quantity of water.  The dough was split into parts,...

Legendary actor Dilip Kumar died in Mumbai on Wednesday 7 July 2021 at the age of 98

  Dilip Kumar was born Mohammed Yusuf Khan on  11 December 1922       known as "Yusuf Sahab" to many people.   He changed his name to Dilip Kumar on the advice of Hindi film legend, Devika Rani, who had hired him for Bombay Talkies.   He was a very good  football player at school, and was the secretary of his school's football association.  He   was very soft-spoken in real life and he credits his parents for this, pointing out that his mother was very gentle and his father never shouted even when he was upset.  , Dilip Kumar was the biggest star to be discovered by Actor Raj Kapoor. They both  lived close to each other and went to the same college (Khalsa College).   His proficiency in Urdu got him a job in Bombay Talkies (owned by the legendary Devika Rani) in 1942, as a script writer. WORLD ANIMAL WELFARE DAY 2020 THEME IS  ' SUSTAINING ALL LIFE ON EARTH" ENCOMPASSING ALL WILD ANIMAL AND PLANT SPECIES AS KEY COMPONENTS OF THE WORLD'S  BIODIVERSITY.  ANIMAL WELFARE IS A COMPLEX ISSUE WHICH INVOLVES STUDY AND UNDERSTANDING ANIMAL BEHAVIOUR AS WELL AS THE CHALLENGE OF ACCESSING THE EMOTIONS OF ANIMALS.  THEY SHOULD HAVE FREEDOM AS AGAINST HUNGER, DISCOMFORT, PAIN, INJURY, DISEASE, FEAR, DISTRESS AND EXPRESS..
