THE LEGENDARY SINGER S P BALASUBRAMANYAM

AN ERA IS OVER. MUSIC WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AS LEGENDARY SINGER S P BALASUBRAMANYAM SIR BREATHED HIS LAST ON 25TH FRIDAY 2020 IN CHENNAI . WORDS ARE NOT ENOUGH TO THANK HIM FOR GIVING US OVER 40000 EVERGREEN SONGS IN 16 LANGUAGES UNITING MUSIC LOVERS ACROSS GENERATIONS AND REGIONS.  HE WAS AN UNPARALLELED ARTIST WHOSE STUNNING WORK WAS EMBRACED BY GENERATION OF ARTISTS.  AN INCREDIBLE SINGER WHO CANNOT BE FORGOTTEN FOR HIS VOICE IN BLOCKBUSTER MOVIES LIKE MAINE PYAAR KIYA, HUM AAPKE HAIN KAUN, SAAJAN, ROJA, CHENNAI EXPRESS  AND SO ON.  HIS FIRST NATIONAL FILM AWARD FOR BEST PLAYBACK SINGER WAS FOR THE TELUGU FILM SANKARABHARAM WHICH RECEIVED INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION IN 1980.

A LEGEND WHO CANNOT BE REPLACED, A VOICE THAT WILL NEVER FADE AWAY, A CONCERT THAT CANNOT BE IMAGINED WITHOUT HIS GRACIOUS PRESENCE, NOTHING WILL COME CLOSE TO THAT SOULFUL VOICE OF HIS.  SP BALU SIR'S VOICE DOMINATED THE INDIAN CINEMA SPANNING OVER  FIVE DECADES . HIS LEGACY OF SONGS WILL ALWAYS KEEP HIS MEMORIES ALIVE.  LIVING AND BREATHING MUSIC APTLY FITTED HIM AS HE SANG WITH ACTION AND EMOTION.

SP BALASUBRAMANYAM SIR BORN AT NELLORE IN A TELUGU BRAHMIN FAMILY PURSUED MUSIC DURING HIS ENGINEERING STUDIES.  THOUGH HE MADE HIS DEBUT IN 1966 WITH A TELUGU FILM, LANGUAGE WAS NEVER A BARRIER FOR THE VERSATILE SINGER AS HE LENT HIS VOICE TO SONGS IN MULTIPLE LANGUAGES.  HE HAS THE RARE DISTINCTION OF RENDERING THE MOST SONGS ON A SINGLE DAY BY ANY SINGER.  IN A DAY HE USED TO RECORD 19 SONGS IN TAMIL AND 16 SONGS IN HINDI WHICH IS A NOTAL ACHIEVEMENT AND A RECORD.  HE HAS ACHIEVED SIX NATIONAL FILM AWARDS IN FOUR LANGUAGES, PADMA SHRI, PADMA BHUSHAN AND MADE AN UNPARALLELED CONTRIBUTION TO THE MUSICAL LANDSCAPE WITHOUT EVEN RECIEVING A FORMAL EDUCATION IN MUSIC.  IT IS GOD GIFTED AND HIS HARDWORK THAT MADE HIM A LEGEND.

HE INSPIRED US, HE TAUGHT US, HE IS AN EXAMPLE FOR HARDWORK, DISCIPLINE AND SINCERITY.  HE WILL BE REMEMBERED AS HIS GOLDEN VOICE CASTED  A SPELL OVER GENERATIONS.   THE NATION WILL MISS HIM. MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE
